Carolyn Brown
Carolyn Brown is the executive director of StrokeOT, Inc. a nonprofit social service organization whose mission is to provide virtual health, exercise, and lifestyle support to community stroke and brain injury survivors. Health insurance plans continue to reduce the number of therapy visits and high insurance deductibles and copays cause many clients to feel financial pressure. StrokeOT, Inc. stemmed from a desire to address a gap in services for people who are experiencing these inequalities by providing free, long-term support for the self-management of a stroke or brain injury.
Dr. Brown has been an occupational therapist for over 25 years working in adult neurological rehabilitation and is a part-time professor at Quinnipiac University specializing in neurorehabilitation coursework. Her research investigates the adaptation of in-person interventions (Lifestyle Redesign®, occupational performance coaching, and cardiovascular exercise interventions) into the telehealth platform. Dr. Brown is also a certified lymphedema therapist and low vision specialist.
