OTech Canada
While in occupational therapy (OT) school, co-founders Shahrose Aratia, Karishma Patel, Priya Thakkar, Noelannah Neubauer, Juanita Gnanapragasam, and Karen Ogilvie noticed a need to actively engage OT students in the possibilities and opportunities that lie at the intersection of healthcare and technology. Together, they founded OTech Canada. OTech Canada is a student-run organization that aims to create a community of clinical students across Canada who are interested in technology. Their mission is simple: to prepare students to be knowledgeable about health technologies and become active contributors to the dialogue in this technological revolution. They’ve done this by supporting the creation of chapters at universities across Canada while simultaneously building meaningful connections with interprofessional who work in this sector, both within and outside of healthcare such as computing science, engineering, policy and industry. Check out their session to learn how to grow your passion project into a national organization. They’ll be speaking about how you, as a student, can empower change at your school!
